The basics
What is being built?
A high-performance computing facility (which is the latest and most advanced version of a data center) at 209 Industrial Drive — two buildings of 125,000 square feet each. In plain terms, it is a building full of computer servers. Businesses rent time on those servers to run demanding computing work, including artificial intelligence — supporting things like chat assistants that answer questions, translation and transcription, intelligent photo search, or spam and fraud detection.
Is this a crypto mine?
No. This facility is designed and permitted for high-performance computing. We do not mine cryptocurrency.
Water
Will the facility use Maysville's drinking water?
Not for cooling. The cooling system is a closed loop — the fluid circulates inside sealed pipes rather than being drawn continuously from any municipal supply. It is filled once by water trucked in from an industrial water supplier outside Maysville and Jackson County, and then recirculates within the system.
The facility will use a small amount of municipal water for ordinary domestic purposes — kitchens, sinks and bathrooms for staff. That amount of water is comparable to fewer than 10 average households.
What happens to any wastewater from the closed loop cooling system?
No industrial wastewater will be treated on site. All wastewater from the site is trucked to a specialized treatment facility outside Maysville.
Will you drill, or use an existing well on the property?
No new or existing well will be used on this property.
Taxes and benefits
Will you take a tax abatement?
No. We will not take any property tax abatement on this facility. That commitment was made publicly on July 28.
What is the community benefits agreement, and what will it cover?
A legally binding agreement, separate from and additional to tax revenue, with specific commitments and measurable milestones. We have proposed a $15 million investment into Maysville through such an agreement. The City of Maysville has created a CBA Committee that we look forward to working with to define how the investment is deployed.
